My dream is to inspire others by doing what inspires me.

Hi,

I’m Vanessa, and I’m an illustrator. In 2020, after 10 years of working as a police officer in Barcelona (the city where I was born), I decided to give myself a chance to create the job I’ve always wanted. It didn’t turn out the way I expected, so I had to come back to the starting point and keep building my dream while working as a cop.

All my life I’ve been told that I have a world of my own inside my mind, that I have “a head full of birds”; so that’s what I do: I illustrate my particular world, with its flowers and butterflies, animals and landscapes. My art and life intertwine in a search for emotional balance and inner peace.

This first year of being in touch with my artist soul again, (and “helped” by a worldwide pandemic), I learned to slow down, to enjoy everyday life’s small gifts, and to need less to be happy. This discovery has enriched my life in ways I never could have imagined.

I find digital illustration to be an incredible tool to create with only my iPad. And with artistic screen-printing, I apply my illustrations to everyday objects, especially apparel, in a process that is slow, meditative and feeds my soul.

I dream about owning a small cottage café in a beautiful town surrounded by mountains and the sea, filled with old mismatched furniture, where I will lead art workshops in the attic for travelers from all over the world. One day!

I know this isn’t an easy journey, but I believe that dreams, with hard work and effort, can become real, and this one is a special one that makes me happy.
